  18. Adaptec's CD-ROM driver, ASPICD.SYS, has been written to fully support
  19. any SCSI-2 CD-ROM drive.
  20.  
  21. The following drives have been tested by Adaptec with Adaptec 
  22. EZ-SCSI 3.1.  All drives support both audio and data.  Photo CD is
  23. supported where indicated:

  91.      /XAEMUL to the ASPICD.SYS command line, in your CONFIG.SYS, we will
  92.      emulate support for single-session Photo CD on these drives.

  95.      section of the users manual for information on using these drives.

  102. 2.  Troubleshooting/Limitations
  103. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
  104.  
  105. o  SMARTDRV 5.0 (in MS-DOS 6.2, Windows for Workgroups 3.11) now includes
  106.    caching for CD-ROM drives.  There is a problem with SMARTDRV in its
  107.    support for XA formatted Compact Discs.  If you experience "Not Ready"
  108.    errors, using SMARTDRV 5.0, add /E:2048 to your SMARTDRV command line.

  111.    C:\DOS\SMARTDRV /X /E:2048

  113. o  EZ-SCSI for Windows (SETUP.EXE) will not load its 3-D look DLL (CTL3D.DLL)
  114.    if you are using Central Point PC Tools for Windows Desktop.  The
  115.    installation will still proceed without any loss of functionality.
  116.  
  117. o  You should install Adaptec EZ-SCSI to a drive letter that exists at boot
  118.    time.  This would NOT include RAM drives, network drives, removable
  119.    drives, etc.
  120.  
  121. o  We have seen at least one case where an unstable video driver would
  122.    cause EZ-SCSI for Windows to hang during installation.  If you are
  123.    experiencing similar problems, try using the standard VGA driver that
  124.    comes with Windows.  If EZ-SCSI for Windows then installs properly,
  125.    you may want to contact your video card company for updated drivers.

  127. o  In the unlikely event that you encounter a timeout failure when EZ-SCSI
  128.    for Windows scans the SCSI bus, you should run EZ-SCSI for DOS first.
  129.    Let it modify your CONFIG.SYS to load the appropriate ASPI managers;
  130.    reboot your system.  You should then be able to run EZ-SCSI for Windows.

  132. o  If you have an IBM ThinkPad 360Cs or an IBM ThinkPad 755, and are using 
  133.    the Adaptec APA-1460 SlimSCSI, you need to move the following line to 
  134.    the last line inside your CONFIG.SYS file:

  136.          DEVICE=C:\EZPLY\$ICPMDOS.SYS
  137.  
  138.    Note: If the directory for EZ-Play is different than the default, use
  139.    that directory instead. The above line uses the standard directory as
  140.    an example.
